Remember when sharing your views with the world was tough and required a prominent family background, a powerful position, or a loud megaphone?

Today, however, blogging allows everyone with internet access to express their thoughts, tell their narrative, and distribute their content material to the whole globe. As a result, you may get hundreds of social media followers, a book contract, or even a new career.

Getting Started

One of the most appealing aspects of blogging is how easy it is to get started.

Many blogging systems exist specifically to aid aspiring bloggers in creating an engaging blog with minimum effort. It’s only a question of writing anything your heart desires after picking your platform and setting up your website.

Platform Selection

The most difficult aspect of this course is deciding on a blogging platform among the many options available.

The options range from simple to somewhat excellent.

But have no fear: I’m right here to help you choose the best platform for you.

For the sake of this article, we’ll focus on those that are most appropriate for bloggers who are new to the world of blogging:

Continue reading to learn about the advantages and disadvantages of each option to make an educated decision on the best platform for your needs.

Squarespace

Like Wix (which we’ll discuss later), Squarespace is a service and platform that helps people create websites of all kinds.

This includes online stores, portfolios, wedding websites, business websites, and blogs.

It uses a very user-friendly approach, allowing you to choose from various pre-made website templates, all of which are stylish and appealing. You may personalize your Squarespace website by changing the template, updating design elements such as logos, colours, and fonts, and adding pages, images, and hyperlinks.

One of the most important advantages of Squarespace is how easy it is to use for beginners.

Even if you’ve never done anything even related to web design, you’ll be able to walk away with a website that looks great, reflects your brand, and functions with little work and no technical knowledge.

To be clear, this simplicity of use comes at a cost – certain design options are restricted. Because you’ll be working within the limitations of what’s modifiable for each template, you won’t always be able to make the exact design choices you want.

Squarespace’s “professional” side comprises of

1.You can purchase and use your domain name (so your blog will be found at http://www.thisismycoolblog.comrather than http://www.thisismycoolblog.com),

2.the cost is mid-tier and inexpensive,

3.and you can easily get discount coupons on the Internet.

I have a lot of Squarespace customers who have impressed me with the quality of their websites.

Wix

Wix is a website-building platform that hosts websites and allows clients to create their websites using various drag-and-drop tools.

In some aspects, Wix is similar to Squarespace.

1.It isn’t specifically designed for blogging, but it does allow for building a variety of websites, including portfolios and stores. Customers may also start with various templates and customize them from there.

2.If you want more design and plug-in options, Wix has more customization options than Squarespace. Video backdrops, scroll results, and animation is all options. You may choose from a wide range of plug-ins from the Wix App Market, including blogs, boards, forms, calendars, a website search, and many more. This is an excellent option for bloggers looking for more creative control, but it may be frightening for a brand newcomer.

3.Unlike Squarespace, Wix is completely free to use if you don’t mind having their logo and branding on your blog. On the free plan, shops and customizable area options are typically unavailable.

The biggest disadvantage of Wix is that after you choose a template, you can’t change it. Therefore major redesigns won’t be possible. However, you shouldn’t change your blog often — once every 18 months to two years to keep up with the latest trends.

Due to possible website placement constraints, I never used to recommend Wix. Now that they’ve gone back to the drawing board and cleaned up their website placement, I can recommend Wix as a simple way to get started blogging!

WordPress.com

WordPress is undoubtedly one of the most popular and well-known blogging systems available, and – unlike Squarespace and Wix – it was designed specifically for blogging. It is used by roughly 30% of all websites on the Internet. WordPress comes in two flavours: WordPress.org and WordPress.com.

WordPress.com is a simple, free blogging platform that you can start using right away after establishing an account. If you’re familiar with these once-popular blogging systems, you may compare them to Xanga, LiveJournal, or Blogger. Although WordPress.com is free, your domain name will be www.looklikethis.wordpress.com. WordPress ads and branding will be included as well.

WordPress.com is the finest option on our list since it offers the fewest customization options. You can pay for a custom domain name and to remove WordPress adverts, but you won’t be able to modify your blog with custom themes or plug-ins.

Finally, you will not own your WordPress.com blog, and it may be suspended by WordPress if it violates its terms of service.

If you want to customize anything, it’ll cost you $99, and they’ll “keep” your domain address for 90 days (in case you decide to switch to self-hosting). This makes it a less appealing option if you want to monetize your blog or have significant control over it. Nonetheless, it is easy to use and set up for all students, but I do not recommend it.

So, Sue, what should I do?

WordPress.org, on the other hand, is one of the greatest platforms for developing your website.

It’s self-hosted, which means you’ll need to choose a server and a domain name (I suggest BlueHost), but you’ll have a lot more control.

This includes adding boards, paid membership, and a store and using one of the hundreds of free WordPress themes and hundreds of plug-in options.

The WordPress.org software is free, but web hosting and a website are not, and they might be difficult to set up. So send me an email, and I’ll help you out!

Go for it if you want to try Squarespace or Wix. They’re reputable platforms that aim to make setting up a website and blog easier for those just getting started. That’s something I’m all for!

Robust weblog!

I hope this has given you the information you need to go out there and start your blog. You’ll be a published blogger in no time.

Best of luck!
