Retaining top personnel has never been more challenging than it is now. With individuals wielding greater influence than ever before, modern employees demand greater money, flexibility, recognition, and work-life balance. According to an Oracle study, 88% of employees believe the definition of success has shifted, and work-life balance, mental health, and workplace flexibility are their top priorities in 2022.

In fact, staff retention techniques have become a key priority for 87% of HR directors, yet 20% of them find it challenging to stay focused on this goal. The digital transformation is transforming the way we work and connect with each other. Consequently, technology has become crucial to employee retention, starting with the source. A strong onboarding strategy increases new recruit retention by 82%.

Employees need flexibility and autonomy in their job, with the correct technology framework that makes their experience better. It is the responsibility of technology leaders to provide the right product options that enable teams to function effectively without jeopardizing the security of either the company or the employee. Employees should feel comfortable, valued, and in control of their working environment without jeopardizing the company’s security, cost-efficiency, or data management needs.

To support a good work-life balance, retention technology must be utilized. Happy employees are more productive and build stronger relationships with their colleagues. The Harvard Business Review forecasts that 65% of jobs currently done by managers may be automated by 2025, leading to a shift in managerial duties from task management to overall experience management. Managers need to provide more support for workers’ professional growth objectives, work-life balance, and business relationships.

The use of technology can also help team leaders obtain real-time pulse checks on their workers’ mental and physical health. Technologies open the door to social cooperation that was not feasible before, providing new opportunities to connect with employees and build stronger relationships with them.

The following are some key ways to use technology to improve retention:

1. Pay attention to how employees use technology, including outmoded systems or procedures, engagement concerns, and video conferencing habits.

2. Promote health and well-being by utilizing telehealth advantages, corporate-sponsored applications, and flexible work hours.

3. Use technology to bridge social boundaries, helping workers build more meaningful relationships and become more socially conscious and sensitive to one another.

4. Prepare for the future where virtual reality will be the norm, and video conversations will no longer be one-dimensional.

In conclusion, retaining top talent has never been more important. Today’s workers demand greater money, flexibility, recognition, and work-life balance, and technology plays a crucial role in achieving this goal. Through the use of technology, employers can improve retention, build stronger relationships with their workers, and prepare for the future.
